Dr. Sh. Sakinah Syed Othman Al-Yahya

Dr. Sharifah Sakinah Syed Othman is a Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist at KPJ Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital, with more than three decades of experience in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology.

She began her medical career after obtaining her Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 1982, followed by the Member of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom (MRCP (UK)) in 1987. She subsequently pursued further postgraduate training in Endocrinology at the University of Wales, where she served as a Clinical Endocrine Registrar under Professor Reginald Hall, Professor of Medicine and Consultant Endocrinologist, from 1987 to 1990. She obtained her Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Wales in 1990/1991.

Prior to joining KPJ Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital, Dr. Sakinah was attached to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia as a Physician and Endocrinologist in the Department of Medicine, where she also served as a lecturer and Associate Professor from 1990 to 1995. She commenced her practice at KPJ Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital in April 1995.

Her clinical practice focuses on Endocrinology and Internal Medicine, with particular experience in the management of diabetes, thyroid disorders and other hormonal and metabolic conditions.

Dr. Sakinah is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (FRCP), awarded in 1994. She is currently registered with the Malaysian Medical Council and the National Specialist Register in the specialties of Internal Medicine and Endocrinology.
