Dr. Ramu Palaniappan is a highly experienced Consultant General Surgeon in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, with expertise in general, laparoscopic and colorectal surgery. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Stanley Medical College in Chennai before completing his Master of Surgery in General Surgery at Madurai Medical College. He subsequently attained Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (FRCS) and pursued further training in laparoscopic colorectal surgery.

As a General Surgeon, Dr. Ramu provides comprehensive assessment and surgical management for a wide range of conditions affecting the abdomen and digestive system. His clinical practice includes gallstone and gallbladder disease, hernias, appendicitis, haemorrhoids and other general surgical conditions. Treatment may involve conventional or minimally invasive surgical approaches depending on the patient's diagnosis and clinical needs.

Dr. Ramu also has experience in laparoscopic and colorectal surgery, including the assessment and surgical management of selected conditions affecting the colon and rectum. Minimally invasive techniques may be used where appropriate to reduce the size of surgical incisions and support recovery.

His clinical practice also includes gastrointestinal endoscopy, including diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as upper gastrointestinal endoscopy (OGDS), colonoscopy and selected endoscopic procedures for gastrointestinal and biliary conditions.

Dr. Ramu is registered as a specialist in General Surgery and currently practises at KPJ Sabah Specialist Hospital in Kota Kinabalu. His extensive experience in general surgery, laparoscopic techniques and gastrointestinal procedures supports comprehensive surgical care for patients in Sabah.
