Datuk Dr. Mohammad Iqbal serves as a Resident Consultant Paediatrician & Neonatologist at Damansara Specialist Hospital 2 (DSH2) and provides sessional clinics at Damansara Specialist Hospital (DSH1).

Datuk Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Mohammad Sarwar is a senior paediatrician and neonatologist with extensive training and international experience. He obtained his MBChB from the University of Aberdeen and is a Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH), United Kingdom. He completed a Senior Clinical Fellowship in Neonatology in Manchester and underwent specialist registrar training in the North Trent Deanery, where he focused on clinical research methodology, critical appraisal and statistics. Before returning to Malaysia, he served as a consultant neonatologist at the regional Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St Mary’s Hospital, Manchester, one of the largest neonatal units in the UK. At KPJ Damansara, he has experience in paediatric and neonatal care and in training doctors, nurses and midwives in paediatric and neonatal care. His dedication to patient care was honoured when he received the Panglima Mahkota Wilayah award during the Federal Territory Day in 2021.

Areas of Expertise / Specialisations:

• General Paediatrics – management of common childhood illnesses and developmental monitoring
• Neonatology – specialised care for newborns, especially preterm or critically ill infants
• Newborn Intensive Care – experience in NICU management including respiratory support, nutrition and developmental care
• Developmental Monitoring & Early Childhood Care – ensuring healthy growth and identifying early developmental issues
• Parent & Caregiver Education – teaching families about neonatal and paediatric care

Research Contributions:

Dr Mohammad Iqbal has participated in various clinical research projects aimed at improving neonatal and paediatric care outcomes. His involvement includes:
• Development of software for continuous EEG monitoring in preterm infants.
• Comparison studies on ETT length estimation methods in premature babies.
• Research on the relationship between maternal risk factors and childhood asthma.
• Clinical trials regarding extubation methods (EXTUBATE trial) and enteral feeding for growth-restricted babies (ADEPT trial).
• Involvement in the TOBY study (Total Body Hypothermia in Perinatal Asphyxia) and the INIS study (Immunoglobulin in Neonatal Sepsis).
