Datin Dr. Vanitha obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree in 1997 from Manipal, India and a Masters degree in Anaesthesiology from University Malaya in 2006. She completed a coveted fellowship in Neuroanaesthesia and Neuro Critical Care in 2009 from the University of Toronto, Canada. Back in Malaysia, she headed the Neuroanaesthesia subspecialty services with the Ministry of Health Malaysia, streamlining and defining the care of neurosurgical and spine patients in the country, where she was the lead trainer for the neuroanaesthesia subspecialty programme for over a decade. Academically she has collaborated, organised and conducted various regional and national conferences. Datin Dr. Vanitha has published in journals of anaesthesia and presented in conferences both internationally and in her home country. Additionally, she obtained a certification for Organ Donation Innovative Strategies in South East Asia (ODISSeA) from the University of Barcelona. Datin Dr. Vanitha has extensive experience in administration of anaesthesia for all major neurosurgical, spine, stroke and interventional neuroradiology procedures. Her expertise apart from the above include awake-craniotomy procedures and anaesthesia for interventional radiology procedures, independent handling and management of all general & major operative cases, and day care procedures with knowledge in Monitored Care Anaesthesia.
