Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ballan Kannan is a resident general surgeon at KPJ Johor Specialist Hospital in Johor Baru, Johor. He is also a Sessional doctor at Puteri Specialist Hospital and a visiting doctor at Bandar Dato' Onn Specialist Hospital in Johor Baru, Johor. He specialises in General Surgery with a sub-scope in Colorectal Surgery. He completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from the University of Malaya (UM) in 1989. Then, he obtained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1995. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ballan underwent three (3) years of Fellowship in Colorectal Surgery at Singapore General Hospital in Singapore.
