Information

Dr Amalina Haydar Ali Tajuddin graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in 2008 and completed her housemanship at Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2010. She subsequently pursued specialist training in Internal Medicine at Universiti Sains Malaysia, obtaining her Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) in 2016.

Following her specialist training, she joined the Kulliyyah of Medicine, International Islamic University Malaysia, as a Clinical Lecturer. She later completed the Ministry of Health Malaysia Fellowship in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2020. Since 2021, she has been practising as a Consultant Endocrinologist at Sultan Ahmad Shah Medical Centre (SASMEC@IIUM) and Assistant Professor at the Kulliyyah of Medicine, where she is involved in clinical care, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and academic activities.

Dr Amalina is registered with the Malaysian National Specialist Register (NSR) as a specialist in Internal Medicine and Diabetes and Endocrinology. Her clinical practice encompasses the broad spectrum of endocrinology, including pituitary disorders, thyroid disease, diabetes mellitus, adrenal disorders, metabolic bone disease, and reproductive endocrinology. She has a particular clinical and academic interest in pituitary disorders and neuroendocrinology, with a focus on advancing the understanding and management of pituitary tumours.

Clinical Focus & Services

The clinical services provided within internal medicine and endocrinology cover the diagnosis, management, and treatment of the following conditions:
• Metabolic & Glucose Disorders: Management of Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, gestational diabetes, complex insulin management, and metabolic syndrome.
• Thyroid Diseases: Evaluation and management of hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, goitre, and thyroid nodules.
• Pituitary & Adrenal Disorders: Clinical investigation of pituitary tumours (neuroendocrine tumours), adrenal insufficiency, and hormone hypersecretion.
• Hormonal & Reproductive Endocrinology: Management of calcium metabolism issues, osteoporosis, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and structural endocrine system conditions.
• General Internal Medicine: Investigation of complex, multi-system chronic illnesses, hypertension, and acute medical admissions.
