Dr. Simmrat is a graduate from Ireland where he obtained a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, Bachelor of Obstetrics and a Bachelor of Medical Science in Pharmacology. He has worked in Ireland and the United Kingdom, and returned to Malaysia after completing surgical rotation and becoming a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh). 

After completing his Masters in Orthopedics, he worked at University Malaya Hospital as an orthopaedic surgeon, sub-specialising in Advanced Trauma, a speciality focusing on advanced techniques in the management of fractures and musculoskeletal injuries. He has been involved in the training of undergraduate medical students and postgraduate Orthopaedics candidates since 2008 including Fellows in Advance Orthopaedic Trauma. With multiple international publications, he is also an owner of a patent, and has a passion for new techniques and implant designs. Conducting training courses and speaking at international orthopaedic conferences is how he enjoys sharing his experience.

He has a special interest in minimally invasive techniques for the fixation of fractures and the management of orthopaedic trauma, as well as experience in the management of orthopaedic problems such as arthritis, joint injuries, joint replacement, back pain and other musculoskeletal problems.
