Dr Azlan graduated from National University of Ireland Dublin in 2007, upon completing his internship in Hospital Kuala Lumpur he spent his formative years training in hospitals across Klang Valley. He began his postgraduate studies in 2011 at Universiti Sains Malaysia, Kelantan and completed the residency program in 2015 at the age of 31.
Dr Azlan is a board-certified Orthopedic & Trauma specialist, an internationally fellowship trained surgeon specializing in trauma, joint replacement and reconstructive surgery. He specializes in fracture fixation, joint replacement surgeries as well as reconstructive procedures around the hip and knee.
Dr Azlan has a keen interest in robotic-assisted joint replacements, muscle-sparing joint replacements, revision of hip and knee replacements, periprosthetic fractures and infections involving joint replacements.
Dr Azlan utilizes the direct superior approach for hip replacement surgery, this innovative approach to hip was developed to avoid cutting important muscles and minimize damage to the surrounding hip structures. The expectation is that a surgery with less soft-tissue involvement will enhance the early recovery phase after a hip replacement.
Dr Azlan is also a passionate educator and has been involved in many courses, events and workshops throughout the years, educating the younger generation of healthcare professionals.
